Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

Almost every day I have a smoothie.  Some days it is a green smoothie, full of spinach and fruit and good for you stuff.  But one of my favourite smoothies is a Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie.  And though I feel a little guilty not drinking up my greens on that day, I can ease my conscience a little because this smoothie is still full of good-for-you stuff.

Sometimes I try to hide while I make it so I don’t have to share.  Except that it is really hard to make a smoothie quietly with a blender.

They always, always find me and ask me to share.  When food is involved, those tiny humans can track me down no matter where I go.  Once I was down the hall from their bedroom after putting them to bed, and I started eating a candy when I heard a child yell “I heard a biting sound!”

Confession:  Sometimes I tell the kids there is coffee in the smoothie so it is just for grown-ups.  In all fairness there are times I HAVE put coffee in my smoothies.  Just not EVERY time I make it.

I know. Mom Fail.

This recipe is pretty versatile.  You can change things up to suit your tastes.  This recipe is dairy-free, but if you can handle dairy feel free to use cow’s milk.  Also, you can add yogurt to make it creamer.

I often use frozen bananas in this smoothie.  If I don’t have frozen bananas on hand and use the ones sitting on my counter, it just doesn’t taste as good.  Cold peanut butter banana smoothie is always better than lukewarm peanut butter banana smoothie.

Enjoy!
